KLM will trial a 100% SAF surcharge on airfares for two European routes from September.

Tickets for the Amsterdam to London City service will incur an extra charge of €16,25 (R338) and the Amsterdam to Hamburg service €20 (R416) extra. The prices apply to one-way tickets in economy class.

Tickets with the 100% SAF surcharge will be available from June for flights in September.

ET orders aircraft for underserved routes

Ethiopian Airlines has signed a purchase agreement for two De Havilland Canada Twin Otter Classic 300-Gs, a new type aircraft in the airline’s fleet.

The aircraft will strengthen Ethiopian Airlines’ domestic and regional network, allowing it to access underserved airstrips, remote locations in Ethiopia and East Africa as well as Ethiopia’s great lakes regions.

The aircraft have short take-off and landing capability to better serve these areas.

TK boosts summer schedule

Turkish Airlines is introducing a new summer schedule for its flights to England, Ireland and Scotland.

In Ireland, Turkish Airlines increased its Dublin flights from 18 weekly flights to 21, providing three daily departures.

Edinburgh-Istanbul services increased from 10 to 14 weekly flights.

From June 10, the airline’s Istanbul-Birmingham operations were increased by four additional weekly flights, upping the total to 18 weekly services.
