BA, IB increase Distribution Technology Charge
BRITISH Airways and Iberia are increasing their Distribution
Technology Charge. It will be applied to BA and IB marketed fares
(including BA and IB fares valid on codeshare partners) which are
not booked through an NDC-based connection or other channels
such as the airlines’ websites or call centres. The airline has
previously said that this charge recovers the additional costs to BA/
IB for bookings that are not made using an NDC-based connection,
the IAG agency booking portals, or another low-cost channel.
‘Virtual interlining’ available through Eurowings
EUROWINGS has developed a new service called Flight Platform,
which will allow customers to book transfer connections and
introduces the principle of virtual interlining. The feature links
Eurowings flights with offers from other airlines, even if there is no
co-operation. It also covers the transfer risk between independently
booked airlines: if a customer misses their connecting flight, the
rebooking is handled via the Eurowings Flight Platform so that the
customer does not incur any additional costs in the connection.
