Ryanair is now one of the top 10 carbon emitters in Europe, a first for an airline. Brussels-based research group Transport & Environment (T&E) released their official figures yesterday, which shows that airline carbon emissions in Europe grew 4.9% last year.
The findings also show that carbon pollution from flying in Europe has risen 26.3% in the last five years, surpassing any other transport mode. Pollution from aviation is set to continue to rise as airlines work to make flying more affordable. International flight faresAnchor in Europe are not subject to VAT and airlines pay no kerosene taxes.
