Airlines operating flights between South Africa and key Middle East hubs have announced adjustments to their limited flight schedules
While Qatar is operating a limited number of repatriation flights to assist stranded passengers, Emirates has introduced a reduced flight schedules that is open for bookings.
Qatar Airways
Following temporary authorisation from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirming limited operating corridors, Qatar Airways intends to operate two repatriation flights to and from Johannesburg on March 14.
The flight schedule is as follows:
- Flight QR1377 will depart Doha at 10h40 and arrive in Johannesburg at 18h25.
- The return flight QR1378 will depart Johannesburg at 23h20 and arrive in Doha at 08h40 the following day.
Qatar Airways said these flights did not constitute a confirmation of resumption of scheduled commercial operations.
Passengers should not arrive at their departure airport unless they hold a valid confirmed ticket for travel.

Emirates
Following the partial reopening of regional airspace, Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule.
The airline has published an operational plan for flights up to and including March 28.
Emirates will continue to operate three daily return flights between Dubai and South Africa. The flights are:
- EK765 and EK766 between Dubai and Johannesburg
- EK767 and EK768 between Dubai and Johannesburg
- EK770 and EK771 between Dubai and Cape Town
Passengers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating. If passengers are eligible for Dubai Connect, they must arrange the hotel accordingly.
Emirates has restored its online check-in due to the stabilisation of mini-network operations. Online check-in 48 hours prior to departure will resume, with immediate effect.
