Airlines cancel domestic flights

Local airlines will stop flying following the government’s announcement of a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, effective from March 26.

Comair is suspending all British Airways and kulula.com flights, effective March 26, and will resume flying on April 19. The airlines’ websites said they would be accommodating passengers wanting to travel over the next few days (subject to availability and fare differences).

Customers who want to cancel or change their tickets must email the airline with their booking details, and new dates or a credit request. There will be no change of booking fees, but a fare difference may apply. Customers who choose to cancel will receive credit valid for 12 months from date of issue.

Credit or rebooking/re-routing without a change of booking fee only applies to tickets issued on or before March 23, for travel until May 17.

FlySafair will suspend all flights from Thursday, March 26 until April 20. The airline is working on necessary procedures and said it would release more information as it became available. Customers are being advised on social media to contact their call centre for changes or cancellations. The last flight will operate on March 25.

Ceo and md of Airlink, Rodger Foster, confirmed to eTNW that the airline would suspend flights from midnight on Thursday. Airlink is expected to release a statement with more details of the suspension.
