Airlink is exploring network expansion opportunities in Mozambique.

According to Club of Mozambique, the carrier is conducting market research to assess the viability of a route between OR Tambo International in Johannesburg and Nacala in Nampula province, Northern Mozambique.

The Governor of Nampula, Eduardo Abdula, told Club of Mozambique that the airline expressed interest in starting with two weekly flights on the route.

“As an airline responsive to the evolving needs of its customers and markets, Airlink regularly engages with destination representatives to explore network opportunities. This includes Mozambique, which is an important Airlink market where we currently provide scheduled services between South Africa and Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Vilanculos, Pemba and Tete,” Airlink CEO, de Villiers Engelbrecht told Travel News.

More Walvis Bay flights

Airlink also added a second daily flight to its Johannesburg-Walvis Bay route on July 4, in response to increased demand.

The new schedule is as follows:

  • Flight 4Z141 departs Johannesburg at 10h20 and arrives in Walvis Bay at 12h55.
  • Flight 4Z142 departs Walvis Bay at 13h40 and arrives in Johannesburg at 15h45.
  • Flight 4Z143 departs Johannesburg at 14h05 and arrives in Walvis Bay at 16h40.
  • Flight 4Z144 departs Walvis Bay at 17h25 and arrives in Johannesburg at 19h45.
