Algeria moves to end UAE air pact

Algeria has begun the process of cancelling its air services agreement with the UAE, which was signed in May 2013.

According to Reuters, no reason was given for the decision but it could impact air travel and tourism between the two countries.

As part of the agreement, the UAE will formally be notified of the termination through diplomatic channels, while the International Civil Aviation Organization will also be notified to begin its necessary procedures.

Emirates confirmed that flights to and from Algeria were currently operating as scheduled. “Emirates will fully comply with any instructions or directives issued by government authorities and will provide timely updates should circumstances change,” the airline said in a notice.

Currently, the last scheduled flight is expected to depart from Algiers on February 3, 2027.
