AmaWaterways expands Magdalena fleet

AmaWaterways has christened its new ship, AmaMelodia, which will voyage on the Magdalena River in Colombia.

AmaMelodia will join the AmaMagdalena, with both ships accommodating up to 64 guests and featuring amenities such as a Sun Deck pool, fitness room, spa services and dining venues offering locally inspired menus.

Sailing the ‘Magic of Colombia’ and ‘Wonders of Colombia’ itineraries, the ships provide exclusive access to destinations along the Magdalena River, including Mompox, a town known for its architecture and filigree jewellery, and Palenque, the first liberated town in the Americas and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Guests can also choose from a range of shore excursions, such as wildlife watching in the La Mojana wetlands and visits to Santa Bárbara de Pinto, where artisans keep generations-old traditions alive through handwoven fishing nets and intricate handmade crafts.
