Speculation that Aerolineas Argentinas may resume flights to South Africa has heated up following the news that SAA plans to scrap its Buenos Aires route.
A post on Cape Town-based online travel agency, MilesAway Online Travel Agency’s website Travelflight, suggests that Aerolineas Argentinas may resume flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg. The website says AR previously operated flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town and that these “may resume soon”, advising website users to contact the agency for more information.
The airline has not denied the rumour. TNW contacted Aviareps, which represents AR in the South African market, for comment. The company, which was recently appointed GSA of the airline on October 1, said the airline “declined to comment at this stage”.
In a press release regarding the appointment of South African representation, AR said: “The appointment was made as the national airline of Argentina seeks to firmly establish and strengthen its brand and sales outreach among South African travellers and travel industry leaders.”
