ASATA to meet with government

Asata will meet with the government today, March 17, to discuss the impact of travel restrictions on the outbound industry.

Asata reiterated its support for members and their customers, in a statement following president Cyril Ramaphosa’s nation address announced on March 15. The president declared COVID-19 a national disaster and announced various travel restrictions.

Asata ceo, Otto de Vries, said: “We respect and understand the decision taken by the South African government to stem the spread of the virus by banning travel to and from certain destinations.

“We look forward to engaging with the government tomorrow. We will work collectively with the private sector to limit the impact on the travel industry.”
