BA Comair flights ‘technical challenges’

COMAIR says disruptions to its British Airways timetable between Johannesburg and Cape Town yesterday (Wednesday, September 15) while regrettable, are limited and only temporary.

Some Johannesburg-bound clients had to be accommodated on FlySafair flights during the course of the day.

An undisclosed number of British Airways flights were affected by “some technical challenges with aircraft”. But Comair said late yesterday that it was working on a solution and expected only a couple of planned delays over the next few days.

Head of Corporate Communications, Susan Van Der Ryst, said timetables would get back to normal as soon as possible.

“British Airways operated by Comair had a technical issue with only one of its aircraft today (Wednesday), which unfortunately was the cause of the delays today and a couple of planned delays over the next few days. We are operating all the remaining aircraft. Comair will be operating over 2 200 flights in September.”

Customers were advised to keep checking the airline’s website – ba.com – for latest flight information and changes, which should ultimately reflect on agency displays. Van Der Ryst confirmed that kulula’s services were not affected.

She said the airline was working hard to minimise the disruption and get its flights back on schedule as soon as possible.

The setback comes just two weeks after BA and kulula returned to service. Kulula has already added more capacity out of Lanseria this month.
