Barsa announces new exco board

THE Board of Airline
Representatives South Africa
(Barsa) has announced its
new executive committee.
Carla da Silva, Air Mauritius
regional manager: Southern
Africa and Latin America, was
re-elected as chairperson
and Michi Messner, Qantas
regional manager Africa and
Darren Hay, SAA manager
– international affairs are
vice chairpersons. Additional
exco members include: Abel
Alemu, Ethiopian Airlines
regional manager Southern
Africa; Ashraf Alsayad, EgyptAir
regional manager South Africa
and Zimbabwe; Rakesh Raicar,
Cathay Pacific country manager
South Africa and Indian Ocean;
Dr André Schulz, Lufthansa
gm South Africa; and Jonathan
Minnett, Qatar Airways country
manager South Africa. Barsa

the retention of existing exco
members and appointment
of new representatives will
bring a combination of stability
and innovative thinking as
the association works to
further enhance the role of the
international airline industry
in South Africa through its
contributions to the economy
