Biometrics pilot kicks off at OR Tambo

25 Nov 2015
Comments | 0

THE Department of Home Affairs has

begun training officials at OR Tambo

International Airport to capture the

biometric data of international tourists

coming into South Africa.

This development is part of the

department’s project to modernise its

Enhanced Movement Control System

(EMCS) at all ports of entry.

Lanseria, OR Tambo, King Shaka

and Cape Town International Airports

have been selected to serve as pilot

sites to conduct testing on the new

functionality.

During the initial period, only

selected travellers will be asked to

participate until the system proves to

be stable.
