Qatar Airways has partnered with Starlink to give passengers complimentary high-speed, low-latency Internet connectivity with a one-click process, on specific aircraft and routes.

Starlink’s service will be a further enhancement of Qatar Airways’ current onboard connectivity. Passengers will now have free access to WiFi at speeds of up to 350 megabits per second. Currently, Qatar offers onboard WiFi on its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350-900 aircraft as a paid ancillary in economy class.

The complimentary WiFi will be available on the same two aircraft types on South African routes.

Qatar Airways and Starlink are currently in the pre-launch phase of the roll-out across the airline’s fleet.

“With Starlink set to support the entire Qatar Airways fleet, passengers travelling between over 160 destinations around the world will be able to stay connected with the most advanced high-speed Internet service from space. In fact, as soon as passengers step on board the plane the Internet works seamlessly throughout their flight from gate to gate, and all from the comfort of their seats,” said SpaceX’s VP of Starlink Commercial Sales, Jonathan Hofeller.
