FlySafair will introduce a twice-weekly service between Johannesburg and Mauritius as soon as the borders of the island state reopen to South Africans.

With SAA still in business rescue with no flights operating for the foreseeable future, and Air Mauritius also in business rescue,  FlySafair may well be the most ready and best-equipped airline to take the first South African holidaymakers to the beaches of Mauritius post border-opening, could be flying on FlySafair.

The airline said in a press release that the rights for its first cross-border venture, Mauritius, have now been approved.

“This is an all-important milestone for the FlySafair team as we look to expand our operations,” says Elmar Conradie, ceo of FlySafair. “We’ve had our sights set on offering services beyond South Africa for some time and hope this will be one of many announcements in the future.”
