Copenhagen relaunches green travel rewards

Copenhagen will relaunch its green experience benefits programme, CopenPay, which will offer travellers participating in green travel a rewards currency to use at over 100 cultural experiences and local attractions.

This follows a successful CopenPay pilot programme which the city tested in July 2024, as reported by Travel News.

This year, CopenPay will run from June 17 to August 17. Participating attractions include The National Museum, Kronborg Castle, The National Gallery of Denmark, Copenhill, The Urban Garden and many more.

Green action

  • Travellers who arrive in Copenhagen via train instead of by air and who ride bicycles instead of driving can enjoy perks like free bike rentals, yoga sessions, guided tours or discounted entry to the city’s attractions.
  • CopenPay will also reward people with discounted parking who arrive in an electric car.
  • It is also encouraging travellers to stay longer to immerse themselves in the destination. As a reward, travellers will receive free bike rentals and complimentary food and beverages at their accommodation.

“Rather than bringing more tourists to the city, the goal with CopenPay is to nudge our visitors and raise their awareness about travelling in a more sustainable way – exploring Copenhagen more responsibly while being rewarded with unique experiences,” said Søren Tegen Pedersen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen.
