Breaking news: weather dampens US holiday

25 Nov 2013 - by Tammy Sutherns

Freezing weather and storms in the US have affected flights ahead of Thanksgiving.
According to Reuters, forecasters have warned that the winter storm could cause flight delays and icy roads for millions of people travelling for the holiday, depending on the path it takes as it heads eastward.
Thanksgiving falls on November 28.
The US National Weather Service in Fort Worth Texas has issued a winter weather advisory after hundreds of flights were cancelled in and out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on November 24. The advisory says, following the storm, travel will be affected minimally for the rest of the week.
At Oklahoma City’s Will Roger World Airport, flights were also cancelled on November 24. The airport has said on Twitter that flights were operating presently but as snowy conditions continue, delays were possible.
Dallas Love Field Airport has tweeted that light rain and sleet could cause flight delays. The National Weather Service has issued weather advisories for the next few days for Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arkansas.
All travellers in the region are urged to check their flight status, especially as the storm moves up the East Coast.
