Built for agents, improved by agents: Inside StayGlobal’s ongoing evolution

StayGlobal isn't a finished product. It's a platform in active conversation with the agents who use it, and that's exactly the point.

Nearly a decade ago, the team at Global Accommodation faced a familiar problem: too many suppliers, too many hotel options, and no efficient way to search across all of them in a single step. The answer became StayGlobal, a B2B booking platform built first out of operational necessity, and then refined into a tool its travel agent clients could use to search, compare, quote and book accommodation themselves. The platform has never stood still since.

Updates that come from real agent experience

Among the most meaningful improvements in recent years: a commission toggle giving agents direct control over their margins, the integration of live activities alongside accommodation, and continued growth of Global's direct hotel inventory. Each change addressed something specific that agents were working around.

One of the clearest examples of feedback becoming a feature: agents were struggling to track upcoming bookings with cancellation penalties approaching. The team built a dedicated cancellation penalty dashboard in response. It's now typically the first thing an agent checks on login.

How agent input becomes platform development

The process isn't accidental. Agents share feedback with Global Accommodation's Business Development Managers. When individual comments become recurring themes, they're escalated to management and a team is tasked to research and build a solution. What starts as one agent's frustration becomes, over time, a feature every user benefits from.

Equally important is what doesn't change: every new feature is held to StayGlobal's core promise that the platform stays intuitive and fast. Complexity added under the surface shouldn't translate to complexity for the agent above it.

Built in Southern Africa, used further afield

StayGlobal was designed with Southern African travel agents as the primary frame of reference. That specificity is what makes it useful. The platform has since been refined for agents in other markets too, but the underlying logic remains: a tool built to simplify and speed up stay bookings.

Several development projects are in progress. The most anticipated are those that deepen relationships with key clients and suppliers. Agents will, in all likelihood, recognise their own fingerprints in what gets built.
