Carnival and Princess ease vax rulings

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that, from September 6, vaccinated cruisers will no longer need to show evidence of pre-embarkation testing. Unvaccinated guests also no longer need to apply for vaccine exemption in order to sail.

This does not apply to cruises to Canada, Bermuda, Greece or Australia, due to local guidelines, or on voyages of 16 nights and longer.

Unvaccinated guests must, however, continue to show proof of a negative PCR or rapid antigen test within three days prior to embarkation to be allowed on board.

Guests under the age of five are exempt from vaccination and testing requirements for cruises departing from the United States and under the age of 12 for cruises departing from Australia.

Princess follows suit

Princess Cruises announced the same updates to its COVID-19 protocols and guidelines on Friday.

“These updated guidelines help ensure a Princess vacation is available to everyone,” says John Padgett, President of Princess Cruises.

The updated guidelines are subject to the local regulations of applicable homeports and destinations.
