Delta expands Basic fares to premium products

Delta Air Lines is expanding its Basic fare options to include Delta First, Delta Premium Select and Delta One, giving travellers access to premium cabins at lower fares in exchange for reduced flexibility and benefits.

The Basic tier includes the following trade-offs:

  • Seats assigned after check-in
  • Reduced checked baggage allowance
  • Lower mileage earning
  • No complimentary or paid upgrades
  • No same-day confirmed or same-day standby flight changes
  • Changes or cancellations are permitted for a fee

Customers travelling on Basic fares will only be able to access Delta Sky Clubs through a club membership or an eligible credit card.

Delta One's new entry-level fare, Basic Business, includes the full onboard Delta One experience but excludes Delta One check-in and access to the Delta One Lounge.

Availability will vary by market, route and travel date.
