CemAir comes back to Plett

Plett-o-philes and travel agents will be whooping for joy to hear that Plettenberg Bay is once more just a two-hour flight away from Johannesburg.

Plett’s airport is set to reopen to commercial flights, after a period of closure due to not meeting the required standards.

According to Business Insider, the SA Civil Aviation Authority has reported that the airport has now had its Category 4 licence reinstated.

Domestic and regional privately owned airline, CemAir, entered into an agreement with the local municipality (Bitou) to achieve this goal.

CemAir will be first in when its first flight lands on Friday, November 19, just in time for the holiday season. The airline has long been the only carrier performing the popular scheduled services to Plett.

CemAir is said to have ploughed R1m into the upgrade.

The airline will conduct one flight a day from Johannesburg in the off season, and two a day from Johannesburg plus one a day from Cape Town in the high season.
