China has closed its borders to foreign nationals, effective March 28, due to the spread of COVID-19 across the world, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Entry by foreign nationals holding visas or residence permits will be suspended.
Entry with diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas (crew visas) will not be affected by the ban. Foreign nationals wishing to enter China for necessary economic, trade, scientific or technological activities, or emergency humanitarian needs, may apply for visas at Chinese embassies or consulates.
