Choice Hotels International has announced its entry into the African market with three franchised properties in Kenya expected to open in early 2026. The company has also signed a master development agreement to add at least 15 additional hotels across sub-Saharan and Southern Africa by 2030.
The Kenyan portfolio includes an Ascend Collection property in the Maasai Mara National Reserve – offering boutique, upscale accommodation and two Nairobi openings: a Clarion Hotel and a Quality Inn in the CBD.
“Entering Africa is an important milestone in that journey and presents a unique opportunity to bring our world-class hospitality to one of the continent’s fastest-growing hospitality markets,” said Pat Pacious, Choice Hotels International President and CEO.
The three hotels strengthen the company’s EMEA portfolio, which now approaches 64 000 rooms and has grown 7% year-on-year as of the third quarter.
