Coronavirus update: Italian towns in lockdown

The Italian Government has introduced new procedures that allow regions to implement civil protection measures in response to the coronavirus.

The government has also placed ten towns in Lombardy (Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano) and one in Veneto (Vo’ Euganeo) in lockdown on February 24.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised travellers against all but essential travel to the towns listed above.

As of February 26, Italy has 374 confirmed cases.
