COVID-19: Asata calls on industry to act responsibly

Asata has called on its members and the industry in general to disseminate information responsibly, following the announcement of the first coronavirus case in South Africa yesterday (March 5).

The association urges travellers to trust and share information only if it has been confirmed by an official source such as itself, the National Institute of Communicable Diseases or the World Health Organization.

Asata says it is safe to travel to most destinations, provided travellers follow stringent hygiene guidelines as outlined by WHO.

Asata also advises travellers to purchase travel insurance prior to international travel, and to ensure they know what their insurance covers.
