Silversea became the first global cruise line to sail from Hong Kong in almost three years when Silver Spirit set sail on January 19.

The occasion was marked with a water salute and a dance performance at Victoria Harbour, where guests also received gifts before departing on the ship.

According to Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Government of Hong Kong special administrative region, Kevin Yeung, it signifies not only the return of Hong Kong to the international cruise map, but also marks another key milestone in the recovery of its tourism industry.

Silversea will make eight calls to Hong Kong this year, with voyages ranging from 10 to 16 days, reports Travel Weekly.

The cruise line plans to make a strong comeback to the region with four ships in the Asia Pacific region over the 2023 season.

“Silversea is investing heavily in Asia Pacific and has seen tremendous growth in this market, and we predict a long and successful return to these seas,” said MD of APAC Silversea, Adam Radwanski.
