Cuba extends visa period

Tourists who have trips planned for Cuba can now stay in the Latin American nation for three months, as the visa validity period was extended from 30-90 days on November 1.

Cuba’s Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda, confirm that the 90-day visa could be renewed for another 90 days once the initial period came to an end. The country’s digital portal Cubatrámite shows that visitors wanting to extend their stay must contact the local unit of immigration closest to where they are staying in Cuba at the time.

Previously, the 30-day visitor visa could also be extended by a further 30 days. The new updated visa also only allows for one extension, but will now allow tourists to stay for up to 180 days in total.

Havana has just hosted the Medical Tourism and Welfare Fair, one of whose main objectives was the relaunch of the island as a health destination, the Havana Times reports.
