Danish AI tour guide

The island of Fanø in the Wadden Sea in Denmark has introduced the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI) tour guide.

The virtual tour guide appears as a seal called Waddi. Waddi’s services are made available via QR codes dotted on several landmarks around the island. By scanning the QR codes, tourists can then engage with Waddi to assist them with information about the island’s attractions.

Additionally, Waddi can provide recommendations, from where to hire bicycles to what are the best nature experiences and restaurants, reports euronews.com.

Development consultant Søren Christensen says that the AI will grow smarter as it learns what tourists are interested in and is updated with more relevant content.

The island is popular among tourists for wind and water sports, such as surfing and kite flying.
