Universal UK to break ground

Europe is to receive its first Universal Destinations & Experiences resort and theme park, Universal United Kingdom Resort, according to Brian Roberts and Mike Cavanagh, Co-CEOs of Comcast Corporation.

The company has committed to invest over £5 billion (R106 billion) in the entertainment resort complex over an expected five-year construction period, alongside £1 billion (R21 billion) during its first 10 years of operation. The UK Government has also committed £1,3 billion (R28,39 billion) in support of the project.

The resort is scheduled to open in 2031.

It is located in Bedfordshire, England, and construction is due to begin soon. The development will include a theme park with themed lands, a 500-room hotel, and a retail, dining and entertainment complex.
