Delta to bring WiFi on to SA routes

Delta Air Lines’ WiFi roll-out is taking off internationally and will be available on South African routes from mid-2025. And it will be free of charge!

“As we continue to roll out fast, free WiFi and the in-flight experiences it powers, we’re able to serve customers travelling both domestically and internationally in new, in-the-moment ways,” said Ranjan Goswami, Senior VP of Customer Experience Design at Delta Air Lines.

The airline cautioned that the expected timeline of mid-2025 for the roll-out of WiFi on South African routes would be based on its aircraft installation schedule.

“During the airline’s WiFi transition period, there are unfortunately some coverage gaps where WiFi is not available until additional satellites are positioned to provide full coverage. Some aircraft will have a paid Intelsat WiFi experience until these additional satellites are in service and these aircraft are outfitted with upgraded satellite WiFi,” the airline said in a press release.

Delta Air Lines currently operates ten weekly direct flights from the US to South Africa, servicing both Johannesburg and Cape Town.
