Delta introduces free in-flight messaging

Delta Air Lines has introduced free mobile messaging to let passengers stay in touch while on board.
The feature is available as soon the passenger’s mobile device is enabled with in-flight WiFi and the device is in flight mode.
Free Messaging with Delta, which does not incur data or messaging charges, is available on WiFi-enabled Delta flights for use with iMessage, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. Passengers looking to make use of this feature must ensure they have downloaded these apps before they fly, and that the recipients of their messages already have the apps downloaded as well.
While free messaging on Delta does allow for the use of emojis, the sending of photos, videos and/or SMS messages is not supported on flights. Furthermore, sending messages may take slightly longer where WiFi usage is heavier than normal. Deltafreemessage
