Development Promotions grows groups department

DEVELOPMENT Promotions
(DP) has expanded its groups
department just six months
after opening it due to a rapid
increase in bookings.
The department manages all DP’s
group bookings, with a particular
focus on cruising. When it launched
in November last year, Michelle
Hunter was the only team member
on board. She is a well-known name
in the MICE world and has 26 years’
experience working in all three
spheres of incentives – client, retail
and wholesale. In March, Michelle
was joined by Dalene Oroni, who
has been in the travel industry for
25 years, to help her cope with the
rapidly growing number of bookings.
According to Dalene, a major reason
for such enormous success in such
a short time is the emerging trend
of cruising in the MICE market. She
says its affordability and the variety
of products and packages DP offers
makes it particularly attractive to
this market.
The team say their experience
and loyal clientele combined with
DP’s product offerings make for a
winning combination. They say they
have never been busier and are very
excited about the future.
Jackie Adami, md of DP, is just
as optimistic about the future and
believes Michelle and Dalene are
the perfect partnership. While DP
has no plans to expand its groups
department any further right now,
it certainly sees room for growth in
the future.
