Doha implements end-to-end facial recognition

Doha’s Hamad International Airport has launched the second phase of its Smart Airport programme, which will introduce biometric systems across the entire passenger journey.

Facial recognition technology will be used at bag-drop, security and boarding. Biometric information will be registered during check-in at a kiosk or via an app and will combine the passenger’s flight, passport and facial biometric information in a single electronic record.

The airport has said the system will also track passengers’ movement through the airport, which it says will improve efficiency.
