Double bill for Cape Town's ICC

NOT one, but two companies will be jointly responsible for the design, planning, programming and construction process of Cape Town's proposed R320m International Convention Centre.
The Board of Directors of the International Convention Centre Company (CONVENCO) has reportedly unanimously voted for the RF Project Association, led by Revel Fox, and the Footprint Group, headed by Stauch Vorster, to undertake the joint project.
Chairman for the City Executive Committee, Saleem Mowzer, said: "The input from the operators, the experience and the marriage of the two teams will result in the best project for Cape Town and the region."
According to CONVENCO's interim chief executive officer, Ian Douglas, the next phase in the process will be to negotiate with four international operators who are interested in a management opportunity with the new Cape Town ICC. To this end, representatives visited Cape Town last week.
Douglas says CONVENCO aims to commence construction of the centre by the end of the year, with the objective having it fully operational by late 2002.
