Dubai International Airport has installed 520 hearing loops at key locations, including check-in counters, immigration desks and boarding gates across the airport.
The system allows users wearing hearing devices to connect automatically by activating the ‘T’ (telecoil) setting on their device, with no pairing or additional equipment required.
According to the airport, this is the world’s largest deployment of the technology to enhance accessibility for travellers with hearing loss, including those with hearing aids or cochlear implants.
Hearing loops work by transmitting audio directly to hearing aids or cochlear implants through a wireless signal, which cuts out background noise and enhances clarity of speech and music.
They are commonly used in public spaces to make them more accessible for people with hearing difficulties.
