The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency has developed 15 interactive virtual tourism tours of Eastern Cape experiences.
These tours, intended to give visitors a feel for the province before they visit, are enhanced when paired with virtual reality goggles and controllers which will give users a full 360-degree immersive and interactive tour.
The tours can be accessed from anywhere where there is internet connectivity, and can be used for educational purposes, and to help people with disabilities immerse themselves in experiences that otherwise would not be accessible to them.
Chosen to offer a mix of adventure, nature, marine and historical experiences with a wide geographical spread, they represent most of the province’s tourist attractions.
The experiences and attractions comprise a Segway tour; a kayak and lilo excursion; sandboarding in Sundays River; an ocean safari; the Donkin Reserve; the Addo Elephant National Park; a giraffe safari; the Valley of Desolation; the Nelson Mandela Museum; the Steve Biko Museum; the Hole in the Wall in Coffee Bay; the Hluleka Provincial Nature Reserve; the Madonna and Child Waterfalls; the Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site and The Owl House in Nieu Bethesda.
