Emirates has announced changes to its network for 2019. The airline made the announcement in an update regarding the closure of the Southern runway at Dubai International Airport.

The runway will be closed from April 16 to May 30. Last year, Emirates confirmed to eTNW that some Johannesburg and Durban flights will be affected. For that information, click here.

In adjusting its schedule to accommodate the runway renovations, Emirates an Airbus A380 onto the Glasgow route, currently being served by two flights a day on a Boeing 777s. This route will only be operated once daily. From June 1, this route will return to a twice-daily Boeing 777.

At the same time, Emirates has announced it will add frequencies to some growing routes, starting June 1. The airline will operate two daily flights between its hub in Dubai and Casablanca, Morocco. The new flight will be operated by a Boeing 777. Dubai-Abuja will be increased to a daily flight, operated by a Boeing 777.

Seasonal additions will be added to the Athens, Rome, Stockholm and Zagreb routes over the summer period.
