Equatorial Guinea opens new passenger terminal

Equatorial Guinea's Bata International Airport has completed the construction of a new passenger terminal that can process up to two million passengers annually.

Bata is the second-largest city in Equatorial Guinea, southeast of the island capital of Malabo.

The new terminal is expected to ease passenger traffic, as the current international airport in Malabo can only accommodate a million passengers a year.

The facility will offer travellers streamlined access to the Rio Muni mainland and its many attractions, including the Monte Alen National Park – a sanctuary for Western Lowland gorillas, chimpanzees, the Colobus monkey, the Forest elephant, the giant Goliath frog (weighing 3kg) – Rio Muni Cathedral and other unique Spanish colonial sights.
