Etihad launches passenger rail network

Etihad Rail Passenger Services, a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Keolis, will launch its passenger rail services in Abu Dhabi from June 30. 

Beginning with introductory operations between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, the service is expected to cut the journey time between the two cities to around 1 hour 45 minutes.

Fares will start at AED55 (around R247) for Comfort Class and AED120 (around R538) for Premium Class. The fleet comprises 13 trains, each with a capacity of up to 400 passengers. 

Tickets are available through the Etihad Rail mobile app and website.

Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid Train Station are scheduled to open on September 30, followed by stations in Al Dhafra on December 30. Sharjah Train Station will open on March 30 next year.

Additional feasibility studies will be undertaken to expand the network across the nation.
