Ethiopian Airlines plans to order 25 order commercial jets to expand its domestic and regional networks, the airline CEO, Mesfin Tasew said during IATA’s 82nd AGM in Brazil.
According to Reuters, Ethiopian is considering orders from all three Original Equipment Manufacturers, for Airbus A220s, Embraer E-2s or Boeing 737 MAX 7s, which will be finalised in the next three months while the airline addresses unspecified issues.
The airline had faced significant challenges with rising fuel prices because of the war in the Middle East, forcing it to reduce its flight to Dubai, said Tasew.
He told Reuters that, while Ethiopian had addressed the fuel supply issue, the price of fuel still posed a serious issue to the airline’s operations.
