Ethiopian Airlines has acknowledged the report into the fatal accident of flight ET 302 on March 10.
In a statement, the airline said the report showed that the pilots commanding flight ET 302 on the day followed the recommended Boeing and Federal Aviation Administration procedures to handle the emergency situation.
“Despite their hard work and full compliance with the emergency procedures, it was very unfortunate that they could not recover the airplane from the persistence of nose diving,” the statement says. It goes on to say that the investigation will continue with a more detailed analysis of the incident, and that the airline will continue its full co-operation with the investigating team.
Tewolde GebreMariam, Ethiopian Airlines group ceo, once again expressed his deep sympathy and condolences for the families, relatives, and friends of the victims. “Meanwhile, we are very proud of our pilots’ compliances to follow the emergency procedures and high level of professional performances in such extremely difficult situations.”
Tewolde also thanked Ethiopian Airlines’ customers, the travelling public, media, and global aviation professionals for their votes of confidence in the airline, and support they have received since the accident, stressing that safety would remain the airline’s top priority. He also shared his appreciation for the 16 000 Ethiopian Airlines staff members for their commitment, which enabled the airline to continue its business without operational disruption, flight delays, or cancellations.
