Etihad has announced it will launch a new route from Abu Dhabi to Osaka five times a week from October.
The new route will be serviced by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, accommodating 300 passengers.
The flights to Kansai Airport in Osaka, dubbed the “Kitchen of Japan”, will be Etihad’s second route to Japan, the other being to Tokyo.
Said Etihad CEO, Antonoaldo Neves: “I know visitors will enjoy exploring its heritage and sampling some of Osaka’s renowned hospitality. Equally, the new route opens up Abu Dhabi to visitors from Osaka.”
The city is a major financial centre and home to electronic corporations Panasonic and Sharp. Famous landmarks include the Samurai-era Osaka Castle, the vibrant Dontonbori district and Shitenno-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
