Etihad starts charging for snacks in economy

Etihad Airways is now charging economy-class passengers for snacks and drinks outside of the scheduled meal service.

The airline’s Sweet or Salty retail menu includes Kit Kat bars for US$3 (R43), and blueberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies for $5 (R71) each. Larger snacks such as lasagne and chicken curry cost $7 (R99).

Drinks, such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate cost $3 (R43) outside of the meal service.

This menu applies to long- and short-haul flights.
