Europe’s airport industry and airline groups have warned that the continent could face a jet fuel shortage within in the next month unless the Strait of Hormuz opens to fuel tankers.
Last week, ACI Europe wrote to the European Commission saying shortages of jet fuel could start at the beginning of May if tankers were not sailing through the Strait of Hormuz before then, reported Reuters. Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency predicted fuel shortages by June if the region could replace only half of the supplies it normally got from the Middle East.
The European Union is preparing measures to address a potential shortage and boost refinery output from May.
