The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says Boeing needs more time to finish a software upgrade for its grounded B737 MAX aircraft.
Boeing initially planned to submit the final paperwork for the revamp to the FAA by March 29 but has since said the update won’t be ready until the coming weeks. Boeing is updating the software of a stall-prevention system that causes the aircraft’s nose to push down, linked to two fatal crashes in five months. The FAA has stated that the completed upgrade will be subjected to a rigorous safety review before approval.
