Fastjet launches first flight to Mbeya

Fastjet’s first flight from Dar es Salaam to Mbeya took off on November 1 - its fifth domestic destination in Tanzania.
Flights between Mbeya’s new Songwe Airport and Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, operated by an Airbus A319. Flights depart Dar es Salaam at 06h15 and land in Mbeya at 07h35.
The return flight departs Mbeya at 08h15, landing at 09h35. As consumer demand grows, fastjet expects to increase the frequency.
“We’ve had a huge demand from customers to add flights to Mbeya to our schedule and we have worked closely with the Tanzanian Government, the local civil aviation authority and Songwe Airport authorities to make this new route possible,” says Ed Winter, fastjet ceo.
“We would not have been able to do this without the significant time, effort and financial investment that government authorities have made in building Songwe Airport’s infrastructure and runway to comply fully with international aviation standards.”
