There has been military activity, civil unrest, including gunfire and reports of explosions, on the island of Anjouan, Comoros. The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in a statement on its official website, has issued a warning to travellers in and around the area.
A curfew is in place on the island of Anjouan from 20h00 to 06h00 and it's unclear whether Anjouan Airport is operating. Travellers have been advised to check with their airline before travelling and have also been asked to limit movements around Anjouan, as well as avoid crowds and demonstrations.
The FCO says there is no UK mission in Comoros and that its ability to provide consular assistance is severely limited. Those who require assistance whilst in Comoros are directed to the British Embassy in Madagascar for remote support.
