On Wednesday, February 28, the Board of Directors of Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) announced that the airline’s Director General would step down as part of the company’s restructuring.

According to clubofmozambique.com, the current Director General, João Carlos Pó Jorge, will be replaced by Theunis Christian de Klerk Crous, a partner of Fly Modern Ark (FMA), the South African company contracted for the carrier’s restructuring.

Crous will take on the role of Interim Director General until April 30, when the decision to renew the contract between LAM and FMA is set to take place.

According to a press release published by LAM’s Board of Directors, the termination of Pó Jorge’s duties follows the denouncement by Sérgio Matos, LAM’s Restructuring Project Manager, of a recent scheme that used third-party-owned automated payment terminals located in ticket shops to embezzle money.
