France eases travel for SA

07 Mar 2022

According to Atout France, the French Tourism Authority, South Africa’s status relating to COVID danger from visitors entering the country, has been moved from orange to green.

This means South Africans who are fully vaccinated with either J&J or Pfizer vaccine, may travel to France without a test.

More good news for visitors, is that from March 14, they will no longer be required to carry a ‘pass sanitaire’, the French health pass. The health pass will, however, remain in force in medical establishments such as hospitals and nursing homes, and caregivers in health facilities are required to be vaccinated.

The tourism office says unvaccinated South Africans will also be able to enter, provided they have a negative result from a PCR test done within the 72 hours before boarding or a negative result from an antigen test done within the 48 hours before boarding.

Prime Minister Jean Castex has also said that, from Monday, March 14, wearing a mask will no longer be compulsory indoors, excepting in "collective passenger transport" (aircraft, trains, buses) and health establishments.
