French rail operators join strike

As flights to and from France begin to recover from two days of strikes by air traffic controllers, the French national rail service (SMCF) has begun demonstrations.

French domestic rail services were significantly reduced last night (June 12) when workers began striking at 20h00. The strike is expected to last until 08h00 on Friday (June 14).

Eurostar said its cross-Channel services should not be affected, but passengers transferring on to connecting services in France could be affected. Passengers have the option of exchanging their ticket for an alternative date within the next two months.

Meanwhile, unions representing air traffic controllers at French Airports announced yesterday that a third day of planned industrial action was cancelled.

Airline services are expected to slowly return to normal. Air France expects to return to normal flight operations by this morning (June 13). Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport urged passengers to confirm with their respective airlines before travelling to the airport as some airlines might only resume their regular operations on June 14.
